Title: Trækirke

INTRO:

During an archaeological survey in 2025 – prior to the construction of Ny Psykiatri – postholes were found, which outline a wooden church, which is probably one of Viborg's first churches. The find is also one of the few archaeologically documented wooden churches in Denmark.

Although the church has long since disappeared, new visualizations make it possible to imagine what it might have looked like. Viborg Museum have n prepared an animatio that gives an idea of the church's appearance and places the find in its historical context.
